Just 25ks from fox is this amazing beach full of black sand and History.
Gillespies was a large gold mining area and the orginal families that settled Fox Glacier were there first trying to make there fortune on the gold fields. You can still see some of the orginal gold workings aswell as the old cemetery.
this wild and stunning beach is well worth the drive,and you might just see dolpins or sharks playing in the surf.
At the Northen end of Gillespies beach is the bridge across the lagoon and the track to the remote Galway bay , and if you like seals
this would be one of the better places to find them. These tracks were orginaly used by the early farmers to drive there cattle to market tough going.
